The SABAH groups is a network of Literate, Qualified and Prepared students in higher education institutions. The network operates under the Ministry of Science and Education. The main goal of the project is to provide training in accordance with modern requirements and create the necessary environment for the implementation of sustainable, long-term, comprehensive and qualitative changes in the field of higher education, support for the personal and professional development of Azerbaijani youth, expand experience and student exchanges, as well as train qualified specialists according to the requirements of the labor market.
The SABAH Center at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts has been operating since 2015 and offers bachelor's degrees in Acting and Directing. At present, 6 second year students are studying Acting, 5 second year students are studying Directing, 9 third year students are studying Acting, 4 third year students are studying Directing.
The admission process for SABAH groups consists of three stages. First stage - registration (provided there is no academic debt and an overall average score of at least 61 points), second stage - logic and English tests, third stage - selection through an interview with the members of the commission determined by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Students studying in SABAH groups have special privileges. One of the privileges - provision of additional scholarships to SABAH students. An additional scholarship is paid to all students enrolled in SABAH groups, both through state order and paid basis. One of the benefits of studying in SABAH groups is the provision of housing for low-income students registered in the district. Students are offered tours around the country, putting their plays on a professional theater stage, participation in theater and film festivals, various projects, in a word, their development is ensured in classes outside the auditorium too.
The selection process of teachers for SABAH groups is carried out by interview. The selection takes into account the teaching experience, familiarity with the existing literature on the subject being taught, the use of modern teaching methods, communication skills, general outlook, high level of language proficiency, etc. Currently, 21 teachers work and two majors offered in SABAH groups at ASUCA.
