SCIENCE COUNCIL
The Science Council of ASUCA operates under the No. 1 "Regulation on the Scientific Council of the Higher Education Institution" dated October 10, 1997, by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Science Council consists of the vice-rector (deputy chairman) for academic affairs, vice-rector for science and creativity, vice-rector for international relations and education, scientific secretary, deans, the chairman of the trade union organization, prominent figures of scientific, cultural, and art world who are engaged in the teaching process at the university.
During the Science Council meetings, reports on the implementation of educational, methodological, research, creative performance work of the university are reviewed. Also, issues related to the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel, the improvement of their qualifications, education, scientific and creative activities, reports and decisions of faculty councils are discussed.
As a rule, the ASUCA’s Science Council reviews interesting reports on current topics presented by outstanding science and art figures. At the meetings, opinions on issues of national importance are also exchanged. In addition, The Science Council approves submissions for the award of the academic titles of “professor” and “associate professor”. In the last five years, many outstanding scientists and artists teaching at the higher institution have been awarded various scientific titles by the ASUCA’s Science Council. In addition, the Council approves the scientific works - monographs, textbooks and teaching aids, methodical tools, and subject programs - prepared by the teaching staff. The Council has a significant role in implementing reforms in the university based on the Bologna system.
This institution organizes the certification of scientific and pedagogical personnel at the university on the basis of the "Rules for awarding academic degrees and academic titles", the Regulations "On dissertation councils" and "On expert councils" of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a number of other instructive documents by the Attestation Commission.
