Jeyran Mahmudova,
Doctor of Science in Art Studies, Professor
Jeyran Mahmudova was born in Baku. In 1982-1987, she studied at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory named after U. Hajibeyov (Faculty of History and Theory). In 1987-1990, studied at the Institute of Architecture and Art of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, in 1990-1996, worked there as a junior researcher and later as a senior researcher. In 1991-2017 she worked at the Baku Music Academy named after U. Hajibeyli.
Jeyran Mahmudova was awarded the scientific title of "Associate professor" in 2003, "Professor" in 2017. In 1994, Mahmudova defended her PhD (candidate) thesis: "Problems of Azerbaijani tasnifs" and in 2012 she successfully defended her doctoral dissertation: "Interconnections between poetry and music in the songs of Azerbaijani composers".
J.Mahmudova has been a member of the expert council on art studies and architecture of the Higher Attestation Commission since 2010. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan.
Mahmudova is the author of 3 monographs, 3 textbooks, more than 50 scientific, more than 40 scientific-publicistic articles, educational programs and methodical instructions. She participated in a number of national and international scientific conferences and symposia.
In 2010-2014, she worked as a scriptwriter and TV presenter of "Music Treasure" - a program on channel "Culture" of the Azerbaijan Television.
In 2017-2018, Mahmudova worked as the dean of the Music faculty at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts.
July 30, 2018, she was appointed the rector of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts by the relevant Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
