Faculties and departments

By the new reforms in education, the faculty of qualification and knowledge perfection was established in 1994 in ASUCA. The faculty takes an active part in the social life of University.
As in other Higher Educational Institutions of Republic, the faculty of qualification and knowledge perfection is responsible for adopting of inculcations and innovations by pedagogic collective at the system of education, preparation and improvement of knowledge and skills of ASUCA‘s pedagogic staff.
Courses of qualification and knowledge perfection are scheduled for three months and realized by two callings a year:
-From September 20, to December 20
-From February 7 to May 7
During first 45 days pedagogic staff of calling goes through the preparations by the way of disciplines (pedagogic, psychology, principles, information science and other) at the institute of qualification and pedagogic cadres rising. During other 45 days the staff of calling works by specialization at the various departments of different Higher Educational Institutions of Republic.


The Faculty of International Students’ Study

This faculty was established in 1999 to improve the organization of international students’ study process in Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art. The faculty coordinates the process related to international students’ study in different faculties, groups and sections in University.
The number of international students in ASUCA is 57 (2004/2005 academic year)
More widely:
54 students study bachelor’s degree
3 students study master’s degree
There is not any student of correspondence tuition in ASUCA. However, by regulations, international students may be admitted to correspondence tuition of any specialization in ASUCA. Correspondence tuition is found both in bachelor’s and master’s degree.
International students may study in 37 various specializations of bachelor’s and 10 study courses of master’s degree. They may also study at the language preparation course, after choosing their branch of study.
Education is paid.
Corresponding to the law, the following tariffs were fixed for the international students in ASUCA:
-Master’s degree (one year)-1500 USD
-Bachelor’s degree (one year)-1000 USD

The faculty of Cultural Studies

It’s one of the theoretical faculties of ASUCA. This faculty was established in 1959 as the faculty of Cultural-Enlightenment work
The faculty is composed of 4 departments:
-Cultural Studies
-Museum Studies
-Applied Cultural Studies
-Economy and information science

The faculty prepares cadres by the following specializations:

Faculty of Acting Art

Faculty of Acting Art is one of the first faculties of ASUCA. The history of this faculty goes far to 1923, during establishment times of Baku Theatre School. Work traditions of this faculty are closely related with the formation and development history of Theatre School and after the Art Institute. From 1923 until 1923 this faculty was called as Acting Mastership and from 1992 to 2002 the Faculty of Theatre and Film Art.



The faculty consists of the six departments:

-Actor of Drama and Film
-Vocal Performing
- Musical theatre art
- Choreographic Art and stage art
- Gymnastics and sport

Producer’s Faculty


Producer’s faculty is one of the main faculties of ASUCA. This faculty includes the producer and camera-man specializations and before named as faculty of artistic creativeness. In 2001, was renamed as producer faculty.

Faculty of Music Art

Faculty adopts intensive curriculum of the conservatories, which focuses on the practice and the mastery of the relevant music skills. Prominent figures of Azerbaijani music culture, famous pedagogues, talented singers and composers, great experts of national music, work in this faculty. Every year, students of the faculty win prizes in major international competitions and have many opportunities to participate in various solo and choral concerts in and out ASUCA. Main music base of ASUCA-Faculty of Music Art was established in 2001 year and consists of the following departments:

Faculty of Fine Art

Though the Fine Art Faculty was established not long ago, teaching history of art, principles and technical skills of drawing have got old traditions. These traditions go back to 80s of the last century when by the decision of Cabinet of Ministers the Department of Painting was founded.
Now this faculty has developed its own academic curriculum, all kinds of facilities, extends its approaches to arts in a more professional way. Until the early 1990s ASUCA was the only specialized university that devoted its entire curriculum to various artistic endeavors.
